Kyle by any other name

I'm not sure what kind of research email spammers undertake, but I think it's interesting what they get up to in their attempts to lure people to their sites. I get a lot of mail addressed to "Kyle", presumably in the hope that that is my real name and I'll be fooled into thinking it's a personal message*. Wouldn't it make more sense to use a more common name like John or David or Matthew? Somebody out there has also decided that "Emily" is a good come-hither name. In the past few days I've received emails purporting to be from a woman who has seen my picture, thinks I'm sexy and wants to engage in some saucy MSN Messenger conversation. As if. In each case, the MSN name has been a variation on the name Emily. Today she was emilyfirebutt and, perhaps more alluringly, emilycoolplums.

* Or, God forbid, that I am actually Kyle Sandilands. (When you think about it, we've never been photographed together.)
