Nova nights change again

First it was Jabba and Justine, then it was Justine and Simon, then Vee and Bossy, now Nova 106.9FM has made what it calls a "permanent change" in its night-time shift. Step forward Dan Lyons and Ken Green, previously known as The Benchwarmers. Here's the Nova press release in full:

Nova 106.9 is pleased to finally announce Dan Lyons and Ken Green as the new hosts of Nova's Night Show in 2007.
Dan & Ken, previously known as "The Benchwarmers" have worked together since 2000, most recently networked throughout Australia on over 42 radio stations.
Dan & Ken are no strangers to Queensland, forging their radio careers here and currently based on the Goldie. The boys are over the moon about moving back to Brissie to host a LOCAL show where they can finally call the time without worrying about 4 time zones!
When we asked Dan how he felt about losing his social life at night he said, "I’m really excited, but I’m still gonna hold onto my dream of spruiking outside $2 discount stores. I can't believe they're handing the reigns to two knobs like us!"

Dancing with the truth?

I guess it's a matter of how contrived you want your "reality" TV to be. Gold Coast chess champ and Dancing with the Stars contestant Arianne Caoli is under fire because she's allegedly a well-trained dancer - even though she told host Daryl Somers that she'd never had a dance lesson. My care factor's pretty low, but people are voting on this thing and the producers owe it them to preserve some integrity in the process.

For the couple with everything ...

Over at the Internet Movie Database, there's a poll asking: "Imagine you're invited to the Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes nuptials - what gift would you bring the happy couple?"
The results so far: A South Park DVD set (21.3%); a gift that will self-destruct in five seconds (14.4%); anything that won't result in a lawsuit! (my favourite - 14.2%); a copy of the Handbook of Psychiatric Drugs (12.0%); a copy of R. Kelly's Trapped in the Closet (9.6%); and a new publicist (6.2%).

Lohan behold

"I'm 20 years old. Is it a crime to go ... dancing with your friends?" That's what party girl and actor Lindsay Lohan said to Oprah Winfrey in her own defence - and it's a pretty good one. Lohan has been accussed of unprofessional behaviour in the past, but her latest director Emilio Estevez says she turned up on set on time and did the best work of her life in his movie, Bobby, about Robert Kennedy's assassination.

TV tussle

"Diva-like conduct is certainly not unusual. You have a lot of egos there, and you have a lot of creative people who think they're more creative than the other." That's what TV historian Tim Brooks said when asked about reports of fights on the set of Grey's Anatomy between actors Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey. He cited incidents in Moonlighting, Desperate Housewives and Charmed.

Luckless Lindsay Lohan

If you had a million dollars worth of jewellery, would you carry it around in your luggage? Lindsay Lohan did, and now somebody has stolen it - along with her asthma medication - at Heathrow Airport. Earlier, Lohan's mum denied reports the starlet was engaged to boyfriend Harry Morton and a few weeks ago, Lohan was being dissed for being unprofessional. Oh, the perils of being a celebrity.
PS: If Superman was real, would he be dating Lindsay Lohan? After all, he went out with Lois Lane, Lana Lang and Lori Lemaris. Or maybe she'd be his arch enemy, like Lex Luthor.
